We can learn so much from children, particularly our own children, if only we allow ourselves.

I absolutely loved this episode. Dan Siegel only needs to “show up” on a video to have teaching power! I learnt a lot and this talk also confirmed a lot for me. I live in Melbourne, Australia and this is one of those rare opportunities where I felt someone’s presence, someone on video from so many miles away…

Dan mentioned parentification. I wrote an article on parentification entitled: “Parentification: A License to Kill Childhood”. If people are interested, they just need to Google my name.
    Thanks so much Dan Siegel!

At one point, Dan mentioned “parentification”. I did some research entitled: “Lives unseen: unacknowledged trauma of non-disordered, competent Adult Children Of Parents with a Severe Mental Illness”. My work led me to being invited to write some short articles on trauma and grief for mental health practitioners which I then freely offer to the general public. One of those articles was on parentification entitled: “Parentification: A License to Kill Childhood”. If people are interested in these resources, they just need to Google my name.

I really enjoyed this segment. Dan Siegel, thank you so much… Suzette Misrachi

Apparently, my research is the only type that has addressed this specific population group. The youngest person who’s read it was 16. But I don’t recommend that anyone reads my research, unless they are in their mid-20s and have adequate support.

I really enjoyed this segment. Dan Siegel, thank you so much… Suzette Misrachi

I loved the insightful wisdom that was shared through personal stories. The name it tame it which adds validation and establishes emotional intelligence and opportunities for the growth of compassion. Parenting is a challenge but being present is what it’s all about , it’s part and parcel of being responsible and love means providing for unconditionally. Loved the realness of Messy relationship; and how things can get better when we address them. I left feeling inspired 😉
    Thanks Dr Dan

Thank you both, loved the talk and the crepe story really stands out. Question, though – while the crepe escapade was happening, is it wrong for a parent to want to teach sharing and manners to the teenager? Thank you
