About Mark Coleman

Mark is an inner and outer explorer, who has devotedly studied mindfulness meditation practices for three decades. He is passionate about sharing the power of meditation and has taught mindfulness workshops, meditation and wilderness meditation retreats internationally for the past twenty years. Mark is an unabashed nature lover and, through his organization Awake in the Wild, he shares his passion for integrating meditation and nature.

About Hannah Carlton

Hannah Carlton is the Head of Design and Development for The Awake Network. She is the master of all things tech and creative, from colors and designs to code and website building, and has a background in computer programming. Optimist, songbird (and occasional living room trombone virtuoso), Hannah is a dedicated yogi, adventurous home baker, and lover of all things out in the sunshine. She believes that mornings are better with coffee, and couches are better with a cat.

    I think mindfulness and nature are one. I always experience more peace, joy, and awareness when I am outside.

    Everything you spoke of resonated and the environment is in such danger and disrepair. Your meditation brought me to tears and help eliminate some of the toxins. We are all connected by an invisible thread the web of life that oscillates with each of our interconnected breaths that you alluded to.
    I thank you for opening my heart more to the universe and the powers greater than ourselves.

    Thank you Mark. Really enjoyed hearing about engaged Buddhism at least in an ecological if not social and political context. As a general comment I found this element missing in the few presentations I listened to.
    Only critique Mark is that you bring in CBT elements into mindfulness which I find don’t sit well together. Challenging thoughts e.g. is it true? is not being present and nonjudgmentally observing what happens to the thought. One can easily get caught up in unhelpful mental debates that get one nowhere. As far as therapeutic styles go I find ACT to be closer aligned with mindfulness than CBT.
